The BCI team took 4th place with their Elektrousine vehicle in the ChemCar competition held during the annual meeting of the ProcessNet professional association "Process, Apparatus and Plant Technology" (PAAT).

Due to Corona, the competition took place decentrally at the respective universities and was broadcast live on the Internet. But even the development and production of the car took place only partially at TU Dortmund University in accordance with the pandemic-related team motto "What goes at home, is made at home". The team (Ertuğrul Furkan Düzenli, Katrin Halle, Simon Höving, Jonas Korb, Daniel Kraas, Jan Sadowski, Magdalena Strebel) developed a vehicle whose drive is realized by an electrochemical reaction in three silver-zinc batteries. Dissolving sodium tablets in sulfuric acid is used as a timer to reach the pre-drawn driving distance. After a weaker first run due to a defective component, 4th place was secured with a replacement part and significantly better second run.

We are already looking forward to next year's competition.
