In the presence of Science Minister Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen and Dortmund's Lord Mayor Thomas Westphal as well as representatives of TU Dortmund University, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new CALEDO research building took place today.

The "Center for Advanced Liquid-Phase Engineering Dortmund" is expected to cost 72 million euros. The amount is shared by the federal government and the state of NRW. After a construction period of approximately four years, various working groups, including some from the BCI faculty, will conduct research in the building on the development of liquid phases for environmentally friendly and innovative processes in chemistry and biotechnology or for pharmaceutical products.
