VAAM -Fachgruppentagung takes place in Dortmund for the first time
With 150 participants, 120 of whom were present, the symposium was in great demand. The contributions covered a broad spectrum of microbial natural product research - from the discovery of new active substances to the reconstruction of metabolic pathways and the development of biotechnological production processes. Highlights included presentations by guest speakers Emily Balskus (Harvard University, USA), Alessandra Eustaquio (University of Illinois, Chicago, USA) and Greg Challis (University of Warwick, UK). For the first time, the Hendrik-Wolff-Award for outstanding contributions to natural products research was also presented at this annual symposium. The prize winner was Dr. Vincent Wiebach (DTU Copenhagen, DK).
