M.Sc. Lutz Vogel-Lackenberg has been honored with the best of the year award for the BCI department presented by TU Dortmund University. Congratulations to him!

Vogel-Lackenberg received the award for his master's thesis "Development of a hybrid model to take catalyst deactivation into account in reactor models".

In this thesis, he dealt with the ageing of heterogeneous catalysts, which is an unavoidable problem in the chemical industry. The main objective of Vogel-Lackenberg's work was the development and evaluation of a hybrid model that combines a parametric reactor and kinetics model with a black-box model for the deactivation of catalysts. In his master's thesis, Mr. Vogel-Lackenberg demonstrated the possibilities and challenges of creating such a hybrid model. This is of great importance both from a scientific point of view and for industrial practice.

The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Hannsjörg Freund from the Chair of Reaction Engineering and Catalysis.

The prize was presented by Guido Baranowski, Chairman of the Gesellschaft der Freunde der Technischen Universität Dortmund e.V. and Prof. Dr. Wiebke Möhring, Vice-President of Studies at TU Dortmund University, during this year's Academic Year Celebration.
