State of NRW promotes the patented "Shower" system from Dr. M. Fischer

With the "NRW Patent Validation" program, the state of NRW supports inventions at universities for which a patent application has been filed in order to close the development gap between the patent application and the use of the invention. Promising university inventions can thus be brought to market more quickly and easily.

In the current round, the patented heat exchanger developed by Dr. Michael-David Fischer, Prof. Norbert Kockmann and Alexander Behr from the BCI department to save energy in bathroom showers is being funded. Congratulations!

The Shower project aims to harness the waste heat in bathroom showers using a maintenance-free heat exchanger, which could save more than half the energy used to produce hot water.

This technology would make it possible to save up to 10 million tons of carbon dioxide every year in Germany alone.
