The Faculty of BCI mourns the loss of Prof. Siegfried Schulz
Prof. Schulz joined the Department of Chemical Engineering, now the Faculty of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering, in 1973 and held the Chair of Thermodynamics until his retirement in 1999.
In the scientific field, Prof. Schulz devoted himself to thermodynamic material data research with a focus on calorimetry, the investigation of high-pressure phase equilibria and the development of equations of state, as well as thermodynamic research topics in energy and environmental technology, in particular the development of thermal heat pumps and energy storage systems and the remediation of contaminated sites using high-pressure extraction.
He was particularly interested in supporting talented students.
From 1974 to 1975, Prof. Schulz was Vice Dean for Household and then Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering until 1976. From 1976 to 1979, he held the office of Vice-Rector for Research, Teaching and Studies at TU Dortmund University.
Prof. Schulz was highly respected by colleagues, staff and students alike.
We will honor his memory.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family.
