TU Start-up Award for Simplyfined

© @Cynthia Ruf
Every year, the Center for Entrepreneurship & Transfer (CET) at TU Dortmund University awards the Founder's Prize, sponsored by the wilo Foundation, to successful start-ups from the TU Dortmund University environment.

This year, first place, endowed with EUR 6,000, went to the Simplyfined project. Congratulations to the founders and alumni of the Department of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering Max Krause, Jens Ehlhardt and Maximilian Spiekermann! The three founders want to open up new avenues for sustainable products in the chemical industry. To this end, they are using a process in which a wide variety of vegetable oils are converted into a bio-based platform chemical. Not only the expert jury but also the audience were convinced by the project in the five-minute pitch and the subsequent discussion, meaning that the team also won the EUR 1,000 Audience Award.
