BCI Professor Elsa Sánchez García in an interview with the Federal Ministry of Research
As part of the National Decade Against Cancer, Prof. Sánchez García was interviewed by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space about her research on a so-called “designer peptide.” The focus is on a novel research approach that could help increase the effectiveness of cancer therapies while reducing unwanted side effects.
Peptides play an important role in this context: They can bind specifically to certain molecules or structures in the body and thereby influence biological processes. Prof. Sánchez García’s research group uses computer-aided methods to study such biomolecules at the molecular level and optimize them specifically. Her research areas include, among others, computer-aided drug design, biomolecular modeling, and protein engineering.
