Best prize of the year goes to M.Sc. Luzie Klöckner

M.Sc. Luzie Klöckner has been honored with the best of the year award for the BCI department by TU Dortmund University. Congratulations to her!

Ms Klöckner received the award for her master's thesis "Reaction engineering modeling of a gas diffusion electrode for the reduction of CO₂ to CO".
In her thesis, she deals with a promising approach to reducing CO₂ emissions - the electrochemical conversion of CO₂ into valuable products such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons or alcohols.

A central topic is the development of a one-dimensional model (1D model) to describe the processes in a membrane electrode assembly (MEA), which efficiently transports the gaseous CO₂ to the catalyst surface. With the help of sensitivity analyses, Ms. Klöckner was able to show how various parameters influence the performance and energy efficiency of such systems. Her results make an important contribution to the optimization of industrial electrolysis processes and thus to more sustainable technologies for dealing with carbon dioxide.

The work was supervised by Prof. Dr. Hannsjörg Freund from the Chair of Reaction Engineering and Catalysis.

The prize was presented by Guido Baranowski, Chairman of the Gesellschaft der Freunde der Technischen Universität Dortmund e.V. and Prof. Dr. Wiebke Möhring, Vice-President of Studies at TU Dortmund University, at this year's Academic Year Celebration.
