MinTU - "Girls into the TU" inspires young talents for technology

The tried and tested program "MinTU - Mädchen in die TU" (MinTU - Girls into the TU) has once again inspired numerous girls to study technical subjects this year. Today, around 25 female participants had the opportunity to find out about the wide range of activities and study opportunities in the field of biological and chemical engineering.

Women are still underrepresented in technical subjects, which is why it is all the more important to arouse interest at an early stage.

The event began with exciting insights into the careers of female bioengineers and chemical engineers.

The girls were then able to gain practical experience in various workshops and experience laboratory work at first hand.

After a brief introduction to bioengineering, the participants first immersed themselves in the fascinating world of microorganisms.
Under the microscope, they discovered for themselves how different these tiny creatures look.
As a creative highlight, they designed their own fingerprints on small agar plates, which they were allowed to take home with them - to later observe what grows on them!

The chemical engineering section also got straight down to experimenting.
The girls learned that baking cocoa is not immediately ready to drink and consists mainly of fine cocoa powder that hardly dissolves. In an exciting experiment, they learned about the process of agglomeration: In this process, the cocoa powder is slightly moistened and combined into small spheres so that it is more soluble later on.

"MinTU" impressively demonstrates how much fun and creativity technical professions can offer.

The event helps to promote the interest of young women in these fields and to attract new talent for the future.
