As part of the "Forum Junge Spitzenforschung" science competition, the Industrial Research Foundation, together with the TU concept, has called on young scientists in the Ruhr metropolis to submit original and practice-relevant ideas and solutions from their innovative basic research.

This year, the focus was on "Resource-efficient circular economy". Of the 21 projects submitted, four projects by members of the BCI faculty made it to the final round of the best six proposals. There, the young scientists presented their ideas and answered questions from the jury. The first three places all went to BCI members. First place went to the team led by Dr. Thomas Seidensticker with the "Renewlysis" project. Second place went to Ronja Weidemann's group on the topic of "PhosFad" and the 3rd place trophy was awarded to Dr. Christoph Held, Dr. Kerstin Wohlgemuth, Lukas Seppelfricke and Maria Schlüter with their project "Circular economy of PET waste through optimized chemical recycling and subsequent purification". The shared 4th place went to Dr. Michael-David Fischer and his project "Shower".

Congratulations to everyone involved!

The prize money of EUR 30,000 can be used for further research in the projects presented.
