Dr. Thorsten Greinert has received the Ulfert-Onken Prize in Biotechnology, which is awarded for special achievements in the field of biotechnology.

The prize was donated by Prof. Onken, who passed away this spring at the age of 95. Prof. Onken was the long-time chair of Technical Chemistry at the BCI faculty and is considered the founder of biotechnology in Dortmund.

Dr. Greinert completed both his bachelor's and master's studies in Dortmund and subsequently received his doctorate from the Chair of Thermodynamics on the topic of "Thermodynamics of Glycolysis" in August 2020. He now works as a project engineer in process technology (biopharma & life science) at Exyte GmbH.

The prize was presented by Prof. Kockmann from the board of the Alumni Association of the Faculty BCI, fabcing, which is responsible for awarding the prize.
