Insights from Japanese exchange students on their internship in Germany

BCI and Kyoto University have been cooperating closely for over three decades, providing students from both universities with unique international experiences.

As part of this exchange program, Japanese and German students complete a two-month industrial internship in the respective partner country - an opportunity not only to expand their technical knowledge, but also to experience the culture of the host country at first hand.

In the exchange of experiences that took place today, five Japanese students gave an insight into their time in Germany. They reported on their impressions of everyday working life as well as the cultural differences they encountered during their stay.

The comparisons between the ways of working and living in Japan and Germany were particularly interesting and led to lively discussions. The experience gained will also be of great value for future exchange students - especially for those BCI students who will soon be starting their own internship in Japan.

There will be another opportunity to take part in the "Japan Internship" in 2026. Interested BCI students can apply until December 31, 2025. All important information on the application process can be found in the Digital Central Area under Wanderlust.
