On 25.04.2025, Prof. Andrzej Górak was given a ceremonial farewell as the long-standing holder of the Chair of Fluid Process Engineering.

Prof. Górak was a professor at the BCI department from 1992 to 2019 (with a short interruption from 1996 to 2000, when he taught at the University of Essen). Since 2003, he has also been a professor at the Lodz University of Technology.

His research has focused on the computer-aided simulation and experimental validation of integrated reaction and separation processes, hybrid separation processes and the purification of biotechnological products.

After the welcoming address by Rector Prof. Manfred Bayer, the Dean of the BCI department, Prof. Norbert Kockmann, and Prof. Tim Zeiner gave a retrospective account of Prof. Górak's life. As a long-time companion of Prof. Górak, Prof. Gabriele Sadowski led through the program in a very entertaining way.

The new holder of the Chair of Fluid Process Engineering, Prof. Kai Langenbach, then gave his inaugural lecture. Taking the everyday "cooking noodles" as his starting point, he presented one of his main areas of research, foam destruction.

More than 100 people, including many of Prof. Górak's former doctoral students, accepted the invitation and took the opportunity for a lively exchange over a buffet and a cozy get-together.
